Success is achieved through collaboration. For an extreme introvert, I know that my best ideas and moments are those with others. As a teacher, I need my students to collaborate; they thrive with support and connections from their peers. Therefore, I practice what a preach, since I was little my mom would describe me as white rice. I go with everything.

My personal networking consists primarily of my mom and my brother. My mom was a teacher and my brother went from warehouse worker to a product manager. One is the definition of a virgo and her son is calm and procrastinates. They are my pillars. My mom listens and my brother gives me the advice that I need not want. At the end of each day, they help me reset for the challenges of tomorrow.
Over the years, I have gained several friends that have motivated me and planned with me, regardless of the district we reside. I have a friend that teaches in Frisco, with a completely demographic than mine; another at Richardson that teaches SLC students; and another that teaches in Grand Prairie actual middle schoolers. They are my think tanks. I run any ideas and share my resources with them year round.
Career Networks: I have always been blessed with outstanding coworkers; even though, some are reluctant to change most embrace it. Currently, my team consist of Mrs. Smiley, Mrs. Edison, and Mrs. Bowling. They are new with technology and changing learning styles; however, they are the most receptive to learning. They always listen to my ideas and take time to process it; they never say no, they ask how.

I have been the bilingual lead on my campuses since I started teaching, because the veterans didn't want to do it. I am not the best lead, the thought that I am telling people that have more experience than I do how to do their job is insane in my head. I always believed I should be learning from them. However, with the 5304 course I am feeling more confident in being a leader and realizing I have been successfully teaching for a decade, I am now one of those veterans I admire.
Once moving to my current district, I obtained the bilingual lead title with it I am part of the campuses Leadership Team. I am going to be brutally honest; we are a group that meets when needed and listen to the principal then go home. Completely irrelevant to the improvement of the campus.
Other Networks:
I am part of a research group for the University of North Dallas. They are investigating the techniques that help all emergent bilinguals be successful in the surrounding districts. Hearing teachers from different grade levels and experiences has been beneficial to my teaching. It has increased my confident and collaboration beyond my schools. It is a new program, therefore, they are still learning. It is fun and fulfilling to be part of an adventure. I have taken the strategies and applied them in class, helping my students enjoy reading.
When you join the Lamar Applied Digital Technology program, you will receive an invite to a GroupMe account. Join it and use it to your fullest advantage.
