A Chance to be Vulnerable

This week’s journey included reviewing each other's ePortfolios. This is nerve-wrecking because you have to be vulnerable. Putting out incomplete work for others to see is stressful; however, it is the chance to elevate your creation and clarify any doubts. Once you take the plunge and accept feedback, it is the most insightful opportunity.

The inspirational portfolios, I saw:

  1. Shaqueta Lewis (2024) used Canvas as a platform. Very creative! Navigation is straight forward; however, I might be traditional, I do prefer the website; however, it was very interesting to see a different platform and how it can be used. I actually want to use Canvas with my students. This ePortfolio is a great reference point.

  2. Several pages had a reference/resource page, where they maintained a list of all sources used. The part that intrigued me was the books list. Almost all of the pages had an image of the book, which is helpful. I would like to add a review to the books I have read to further help my lovely audience. I came across Joseph Perrone’s portfolio (2024); he has the reference and resource page separate. This may be the ‘strat’ (strategy)  since the amount of resources we add through the course can get extensive and convoluted.  I believe it is a requirement for one of the classes in the program; fingers crossed, I can get ahead on this.

  3. Two more ideas I adored: Tammy Richard (2024) has a section titled “Talks w/ Teacher Tams” that can be used to post a podcast or discussion board videos from the courses. Meanwhile, Nadia Flores’ (2024) starts her homepage with a video that captivates her audience.

The feedback I received. I want to note that I  asked for specific feedback; I believe that gave my peers confidence and a sense of help; at the same time, I received suggestions I needed. The focus: My Homepage.

  1.  Overall consensus: Name, welcome message, picture of myself, and a meaningful image or quote of my innovation

  2. Other: Brief bio, link my graphics, posts feed, what my audience will find.

Thank you to Khelia Olison Williams, Joseph Perrone, and Whitney Davis (2024)for your help and support.
