This course has taught me that I can be a publisher! I have created a journal article and a podcast episode. I have made tutorial videos to support others. I am excited to have had this opportunity. I really enjoyed the podcast method. I was horrible, but I feel more confident in my potential with it. I can express myself better. The podcast and video methods feel friendlier and stronger for connections. I would like to have a group that prefers to record our collaboration discussions rather than write about it. I remember when I was studying ePortfolios for 5303, there was a classmate with a recording and I had suggested that she post her discussion group's post on their ePortfolios. At first, I would hate the whole thing, but the more I would practice and the better connected I am with my group, I would end up preferring it. The only issue would be scheduling. It's funny that all my discussion groups, throughout this program, have writing posts, yet we call each other all the time! Speaking of my team here is the group.
Krystle Melinda Nilka Katia Physical Education After School Program Snacks for Success Learning & Disabilities
I learned from my group that we brought our background knowledge into our innovation plans. Krystle saw the need of bringing tech and music to physical education. Focus is put on the core subjects, but Krystle wants to bridge those core subjects with physical education. She would love to see her plan move beyond gym. Melinda's daughter is in volleyball. As a mom that travels every weekend for child, she sees first hand the impact of after school activity in learners. Her school already has a program, but she is finding ways to impact learning beyond the school day. Nilka had a student steal snacks from her, and found out that the student didn't have food at home. This experience is her inspiration to provide nutritional education to prepare students for learning. Katia has worked with learners with disabilities. She has seen how technology and the right environment provides the support they students need. I moved to a Spanish speaking country and had to learn a whole new language and experienced the challenges of an emergent bilingual. I want to help my students learn in a way that makes them happy and feel success.
Each of us have our experiences that shaped our projects, yet we are on different areas of tech usage and confidence as well. We have different perspectives on how to much digital tools can be implemented in our plan. For example, Nilka sees digital resources for keeping students updated with nutritional intake. Meanwhile, I see digital tools as a means of creation.
Our group worked well together. We constantly communicated through our WhatsApp group chat. Katia kept us updated and remind us of what was expected for the week. She provided our rundown for the week. Melinda was our faithful publisher. Even on that Sunday night were she traveled to Dallas for her daughter's game, she posted and kept us updated. Krystle was our closer. She checked-in at the end of the week to make sure we all had our work completed. Nilka created the posting platform and provided it every Monday. I made sure we had sources. Everyone worked efficiently.
The only thing I would change is the method of delivery of our discussion board. As a mentioned above, podcast that can be placed in our ePortfolio will be beneficial for our audiences. We can show connections across innovation plans clearer. If we were to post them, they would be tailored for an universal audience. Besides that I have no other change.
